01
Asia ex-Japan Long/Short Equity Strategy — Launch & Capital Formation
Context
Portfolio manager spun out of a large asset management firm to launch an Asia ex-Japan long/short equity strategy.
Challenge
While the investment philosophy was sound, the strategy lacked clear and accessible articulation for institutional audiences. Communication materials required simplification and stronger visual and conceptual clarity. The manager also needed introductions to early-stage investors to secure initial capital.
Our Role
Defined and refined the investment positioning and narrative. Simplified and enhanced communication materials for institutional clarity. Led investor introductions across the United States, Europe, and Asia, targeting early adopters and seed capital providers.
Outcome
Secured $30 million in seed capital and subsequently raised an additional $75 million from a European institutional investor.

Single-Country Arbitrage Strategy — Positioning & Scale-Up
Context
Emerging manager with a differentiated single-country arbitrage strategy, without prior affiliation to a widely recognized asset management platform.
Challenge
Despite a unique and compelling strategy, the manager lacked institutional recognition and required clear positioning to communicate the edge effectively. Investor targeting and outreach strategy were not yet defined.
Our Role
Developed the fund’s positioning and narrative, emphasizing its differentiated advantages. Identified and mapped relevant investor channels, designed and executed targeted outreach, and actively presented the strategy to prospective investors to build market awareness.
Outcome
Established the fund as a recognized player within its niche strategy. Secured initial investments from family offices and scaled assets under management to approximately $400 million during the engagement period.
03
Small-Cap Country Strategy — North American Expansion
Context
Established asset manager with a country-specific small-cap strategy seeking to expand distribution into North America (United States and Canada).
Challenge
The strategy had not previously been introduced to North American investors. Differences in investor expectations and communication styles required a fundamental shift in how the strategy and firm were presented, both in meetings and in written materials.
Our Role
Led a comprehensive repositioning of the strategy for North American audiences. Worked closely with the internal team to redesign presentation materials, refine messaging, and provide training and coaching for investor engagement. Introduced the strategy to institutional investors across the region.
Outcome
Achieved strong traction across institutional investors, including foundations, endowments, public and private pension funds, and family offices. Secured an $80 million separately managed account, including a significant allocation from a U.S. pension fund — the second-largest mandate since the fund’s inception. Additionally advised on the development, positioning, and fundraising strategy of an ETF to broaden access to smaller investors.
